Why Philanthropy Underpins our Business

Each year, a crucial part of our business strategy is the allocation of time and monetary capital for our philanthropic projects. There are many worthy philanthropy causes Plan B are keen to contribute to, and with over 75 staff across a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds, we have a personal connection to many of them.

A few years ago we decided that rather than spread ourselves thinly across too many projects we would focus our efforts on a handful of charitable causes that held special meaning for the Plan B Group, in order to have a more measurable and lasting impact.

Each staff member at Plan B is encouraged to present a cause they wish to contribute to, which are then shortlisted by our Executive Leadership team. Our most popular charity event, which was recently held for the third year running, is the Fight Cancer Foundation’s – Footy Colours Day, a national fundraising campaign that supports kids, and their families, living with cancer.

Established in 1995 by the Fight Cancer Foundation, Footy Colours Day raises funds to help kids to continue their education while undergoing treatment, to ensure they don’t fall behind or feel isolated during their recovery, helping to reduce the long-term impact of cancer treatment.

As part of our #PlanBGroup business plan, the three Plan B companies – Plan B Services, Plan B Comms and Plan B Auditing match every dollar raised by staff for their worthy philanthropy causes. ‘We had a staff goal to raise $2,000 for this year’s Footy Colours Day, and the team smashed it. And with the Plan B Group matching every dollar raised, this year’s contribution came to a whopping $19,804.00!’

Philanthropy projects are not only essential to our strategic plan at Plan B, but have come to underpin our company culture — the team rally together for their foundation, and everyone gets involved. The energy that is generated around our charity events is electric, the drive to get results and to muck-in and have fun together – of which Plan B are renowned for – is contagious, and fantastic for staff morale.
