Graduate Electrical Design Engineer

The Plan B Group is Victoria’s largest provider of integrated electrical services to the Land Development industry. We are renowned for delivering holistic solutions across Engineering, Design, and Project Management, supporting some of Australia’s largest and most complex residential developments.
 
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Design Engineer (graduated within the last two years) to join our highly regarded Design Team. This is a rare opportunity to develop your engineering and project management capabilities while working on industry-leading projects that shape communities across Victoria.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:
 
As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will undertake a structured and supervised development program designed to build both your technical and management skills. Your responsibilities will include:
 

  • Developing your engineering and project management capabilities through a structured training program.
  • Learning to prepare electrical designs and specifications for overhead and underground electrical distribution networks, public lighting systems, and AS3000-compliant installations.
  • Supporting the design and management of electrical infrastructure for some of Australia’s largest residential developments.
  • Assisting with stakeholder and project management activities on major projects with lifecycles exceeding 10 years and values exceeding $1 billion.
  • Working closely with all Victorian electricity distributors, local councils, developers, and other key industry stakeholders.

About You
 
To be successful in this role, you will have:
 

  • A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • AutoCAD experience (preferred).
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness to learn and contribute within a collaborative team environment.
  • Previous exposure to the Electrical Distribution industry will be highly regarded.

Trainee Electrical Field Asset Detailer

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Field Detailer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work predominantly in the field, supporting major electrical infrastructure projects across Melbourne’s growth corridors.

 

What You’ll Be Doing
Envision your future with us—here’s a glimpse of what your role will entail:

  • Conducting field-based detailing work across Melbourne’s Northern and Western growth areas, including Geelong, with occasional travel to Melbourne’s South-Eastern suburbs.
  • Collecting electrical asset information using GPS technology and manual field methods.
  • Liaising and communicating with contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinating detailing activities with fellow field detailers and internal teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with Electrical Utility detailing requirements, standards, and procedures.
  • Completing site inspections and asset verification checks within required project timeframes.
  • Working both independently and collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.
  • Wearing supplied uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

About You

  • A current and valid Victorian Driver’s Licence (mandatory).
  • Previous experience in the Electrical and/or Civil Construction industry will be highly regarded but is not essential.
  • Surveying, GPS, or spatial data training, education or passion will be highly regarded.

Location

This is a predominantly field-based role servicing projects throughout Melbourne’s Northern and Western growth corridors. Minimal office attendance is required, with our head office located in Mount Waverley.
